Middle School Sports: One Area of Great Need

Image for 'You Can Do Both'If you are new to making a tax credit contribution or open to making a contribution in a new way, please contribute to Middle School Sports. Children involved in competitive sports are more likely to stay in school and learn. In short, competitive sports help kids succeed in school and in life.

Every Tucson Unified leader knows sports are important for student success. Even so, severe budget cuts, cuts that mean losing teachers of academic subjects, require middle school sports programs to begin paying for themselves.

Because sports are extracurricular, these programs can be funded by tax credit dollars. That's where we need your help. Our goal: $140,000+ in new tax credit contributions specifically for middle school sports. Even if each person gives the $200 maximum allowed (per person), 700 contributors would be needed to fund sports.

When you contribute, kids can play, and win. And don't forget that you can do both! You can support interscholastics by contributing to the Tucson Unified school of your choice for the Arizona Public School Tax Credit and by contributing to the Educational Enrichment Foundation for the Charitable Tax Credit. EEF provides interscholastics scholarships to over 775 Tucson Unified students.

Whatever amount you can afford right now, thank you, in advance, for your tax credit contribution. Please make your contribution to the TUSD school of your choice by credit card here.

Thank You for Your Past Support
In past years, thousands of people throughout the TUSD community--and beyond our attendance area--have provided genuine help for our students by making tax credit contributions to our areas of greatest need. People have contributed to schools for arts and music programs, sports and other activities, field trips and more.

Many people have helped students by making contributions to schools in low income areas, attendance areas in which it is impossible for parents and neighbors to make the full tax credit contribution of $200 (filing single) or $400 (filing jointly). In some areas, parents and their neighbors don't qualify for any tax credit.

If you have made your contribution in the past in any way involving great need, thank you, thank you, thank you. Please make that contribution again. Perhaps you'll consider helping middle school sports. Whatever you decide, please make your contribution by credit card right now!
