• BLENMAN - Kelly MackBLENMAN - Kelly Mack

    Ms. Kelly Mack is a Tucson native and attended TUSD schools growing up. She relocated to Wisconsin as a teenager with her family before returning to attend the University of Arizona. Ms. Mack received a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and Master’s degrees in Curriculum and instruction from Chapman University and Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. She taught for 11 years at White Elementary as a 1st grade teacher before stepping out of the classroom as a magnet coordinator for 3 years at both Ochoa and Bonillas Elementary Schools. Ms. Mack was hired as the proud principal at Blenman Elementary in 2017 and implemented the OMA gold program with Mrs. Bethanne Griffin as the Arts Integration Specialist. Go Blenman Eagles!

  • BLOOM - Lucinda BrunenkantBLOOM - Lucinda Brunenkant

    Lucinda Peralta Brunenkant is a Tucson native and an alumnus of TUSD schools, University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a Bilingual endorsement, a Master’s in Hispanic Linguistics and an Educational Leadership certification. Lucinda traveled with the non-profit organization, Up with People and has brought that experience with her to TUSD. She is a strong supporter of the arts and believes in the power of arts integration!

  • BORMAN - Kathy SislerBORMAN - Kathy Sisler

    Ms. Sisler is a native of Tucson and was born on Davis Monthan Air Force Base. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona, in Secondary Education. After earning her post-baccalaureate teaching certification for elementary, she taught for 11 years in the Amphitheater School District. Kathy moved to Tucson Unified School District and spent 8 years as a teacher at Robins K-8.  She continued her education and received a Master’s Degree in Reading, Language, and Culture from the University of Arizona. She also received her principal certification through Northern University of Arizona.  Kathy has served TUSD as a teacher, LSC, Assistant Principal, and Principal.  This is her fifth year leading the Astros and she is proud that Borman K-8 is now an OMA Gold school.  OMA Gold provides Borman K-8 students the rich opportunity to grow through the Arts.

  • CAVETT - Carol LeesonCAVETT - Carol Leeson

    Carol was born in Southern California, and then moved to Eugene, Oregon to raise her family.  During this time, she started attending the local community college and then later transferred to the University of Oregon.  There she received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and her Master’s degree in Teaching and Learning.  She moved to Tucson in 2007, to start her teaching career at Tucson Unified School District.  She then received her second Master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Arizona. She taught fourth and fifth grades at Maldonado elementary school and then became an Instructional Coach and Curriculum Specialist.   Through the years, Carol coordinated 21st CCLC programs at Maldonado, Lawrence, Johnson and Cavett Elementary schools. She used this experience to work with Arizona Department of Education to read and score new grant applications, for the afterschool program.  Through this journey, she became an Assistant Principal at Miller Elementary and is now the proud Principal at Cavett Elementary. Music continues to be an integral part of Carol’s life. As principal, her mission is to support all students in obtaining the experience of OMA’s integrated arts program.

  • CRAGIN - Andrea SteeleCRAGIN - Andrea Steele

    Andrea Steele is originally from Ohio. She attended Eastern Michigan University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree with a K-12 special education focus and a specific endorsement to teach students who are deaf and hard of hearing. She taught for 10 years in the Detroit metropolitan area and during that time obtained her Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix. Andrea transplanted to Tucson in 2014 and began her career with the Tucson Unified School District. For TUSD, she has served as an elementary teacher at Lawrence 3-8, a middle school resource teacher for students who are deaf and hard of hearing at Miles Exploratory Learning Center, Assistant Principal at Dietz K-8 and is now the proud Principal of Cragin ES and it’s wonderful OMA Gold program.

  • DAVIDSON - Sarah AndricopoulosDAVIDSON - Sarah Andricopoulos

    Mrs. Andricopoulos earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.  She has taught third and fifth grade, and middle school language arts.  Mrs. Andricopoulos was an Educational Leadership Specialist, mentoring new teachers in a neighboring district, and has been an administrator of both middle school and elementary school before becoming the very proud principal of Davidson Elementary in 2017.  Mrs. Andricopoulos is a musician who plays the piano, sings at church, and has played in handbell choirs since middle school.  In college, she played in the Harter Memorial Handbell Choir at NAU and served as the president of that group, as well.  At Davidson, she now directs two after school chime choirs.  She is thrilled that Davidson is now an OMA Gold school and is committed to integration of the arts in all classrooms.

  • DIETZ - Jesus VasquezDIETZ - Jesus Vasquez

    Jesus Vasquez is originally from Sacramento, California where he attended Sacramento State University to receive his B.A. in Spanish.  He moved to Tucson in 2003 to teach high school in a nearby district.  He received his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from NAU.  Outside of school, he coaches his son's Little League team as he believes sports, as well as music, is an important component of a child's education.

    Jesus' greatest source of pride is being the proud principal of Dietz K-8 school and working with outstanding teachers, staff and parents who have built a caring community through artistic integrated experiences.  Thanks to the great staff and community, Dietz has returned to be an OMA Gold School!

  • FRUCHTHENDLER - Mary AndersonFRUCHTHENDLER - Mary Anderson

    Mary Anderson is on her 25th year in education and has had a variety of teaching experiences in both elementary and middle school. She began her career in the Phoenix area, teaching kindergarten and first grade in Peoria Unified School District. Upon moving to Tucson She began teaching at Lineweaver Elementary, where She taught Kindergarten as well as first through fourth grade in the GATE program. She then moved onto the middle school where she spent two years as an Instructional Coach at Dodge Middle School. Her last six years has been as a Principal, the first four years at Miller Elementary and these past two years back home at Lineweaver Elementary.

     Thomas Heminger serves as principal of the proud Gila Monster Community of learners!  I am thrilled that Anna Henry is an OMA Gold School!  I firmly believe in the positive educational impact that creative arts plays in each child's development.  As a student, I greatly benefited from my participation in both concert choir and swing choir. I have observed firsthand how our Henry students interact with the creative arts curriculum and the way it enhances educating the whole child.  Thank you Fine Art Department and Tucson Unified Schools for recognizing the benefits that OMA brings to our schools.

  • HOWELL - Jaquetta AlexanderHOWELL - Jaquetta Alexander

    Jaquetta Alexander received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arizona and her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. She taught kindergarten through fourth grades in three different elementary schools in Tucson Unified School District before becoming an Integration Specialist, Curriculum Specialist, Teacher/Coach, and ultimately the proud principal of Peter Howell Elementary School. Jaquetta spent several years working with Dr. Kathy Short, University of Arizona Professor in the program of Language, Reading and Culture and director of Worlds of Words, and colleagues at Van Horne Elementary School on an International Literature Project which focused on building intercultural understanding through inquiry and literature. Her work is published on www.wowlit.org. As a classroom teacher, Jaquetta strived to integrate the arts across the curriculum, and now as a principal, she strongly supports the arts and teachers’ efforts to make the arts accessible to all students.

  • KELLOND - Brenda MeneguinKELLOND - Brenda Meneguin

    Brenda Meneguin is honored to start her 26th year in education at Kellond Elementary School. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at the University of Arizona and her Master’s degree in Administration through Chapman University. She spent 20 years in the classroom, teaching first through eighth grades. She has also served the education community as a New Teacher Mentor, a Curriculum Support Provider, Professional Presenter and adjunct faculty for Northern Arizona University before becoming an administrator. Ms. Meneguin is a National Board Certified Teacher and an Arizona Master Teacher. She is proud to be a part of Kellond, an OMA Gold school where children are supported by the arts to reach their greatest successes.

  • LINEWEAVER - Emily WallsLINEWEAVER - Emily Walls

    Emily Walls has attended all three Arizona State colleges, with degrees in education and educational leadership from University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University. In her educational career with Tucson Unified School District, she has taught second through fifth grade as well as worked in curricular and school support as an Instructional Coach, Curriculum Facilitator, and Curriculum Service Provider. Emily values the integration of the arts in instruction for all students, supporting the education of the whole child. She proudly supports Lineweaver’s legendary OMA Gold program.

    Maricella Carranza- I was born and raised in Tucson and I am a proud product of TUSD. I received my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arizona and a few years later I continued my education at Northern Arizona University and received my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. I am proud to be an OMA principal and enjoy being a part of the OMA community.

    Robert Jewett earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona in Radio Television with a minor in Photography. After earning his post-baccalaureate teaching certification he taught for 11 years in the Amphitheater School District. Rob continued his education and received a Master’s of Education in Educational Leadership. He served as an administrator in Amphitheater then joined the TUSD team in 2014 as Principal of Sewell Elementary.Rob firmly believes in the value of arts in education as his youngest son found his passion in music in the fourth grade orchestra. After continuing music training in public schools his son continued his education receiving a degree in Music Composition and is currently working in the music industry.

    Victoria Barajas received her bachelor's degree in Elementary Ed with a Bilingual Endorsement from the University of Arizona and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from NAU. She has many years of experience as a teacher and instructional coach in mainstream, bilingual, and self-contained gifted classrooms. She is excited to be the principal at Van Buskirk because of the Dual Language and OMA Gold programs the school offers. The community of Van Buskirk celebrates the enrichment opportunities students have through the weekly OMA classes.

  • WARREN - Jill RonsmanWARREN - Jill Ronsman

    Ms. Ronsman received her Bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Science / Home Economics from the University of Arizona and her Master's degree in School Counseling from the University of Phoenix.  While at the U of A, Ms. Ronsman was a Pom Pon with the Pride of Arizona for all four years and that is where the love of Fine Arts began.  Jill taught Home Economics in middle and high school in Tucson, North Pole, Alaska, and Las Vegas, Nevada.  While in Alaska she became involved in counseling students and when she returned to Tucson she earned her masters and worked as a high school counselor for Sabino HS and Tucson HS. Ms. Ronsman was an assistant principal for four years at Sabino HS before she became the principal at Warren Elementary.  After 31 years at the secondary school level, she is now experiencing the wonders of elementary kiddos.  While principal at Warren Jill has worked hard to get Warren into the Department of Defense STARBASE Program for the 5th graders, and helped bring more Fine Arts and reached the OMA Gold Status.

    Dora Saldamando is the Principal at Wheeler Elementary School. She was a teacher for 18 years and 2 years as an administrator in Tucson Unified School District. Her greatest source of pride is having the opportunity to work together with outstanding teachers, staff, parents and volunteers that have the passion, dedication and commitment to inspire our students to reach their full potential and create the leaders of tomorrow.

  • WRIGHT - Deanna CamposWRIGHT - Deanna Campos

    Deanna Campos is a native Tucsonan.  She grew up on the South Side of Tucson, and went to Sunnyside Schools.  She attended the University of Arizona and is an Arizona Wildcat.  There she received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and her Master’s degree in Multicultural Education. She also received her principal certification through Northern University of Arizona. She started working in Amphitheatre school district in an elementary school.  Later, she started teaching at Townsend Middle school where she met Ochor Odol.  He was a student at Townsend and she started tutoring him.  She started to notice that he was having difficulty at home.  It was then that she knew she would be taking care of him and his brother, Obang, for the rest of their lives.  After a long stretch of teaching both elementary and middle school, she became assistant principal at Mary Belle McCorkle Academy of Excellence.  In 2016 she became the principal at John B. Wright in the Tucson Unified School District.  As the principal at Wright Elementary, she has implemented the PBIS with fidelity and has created a safe and kind campus by using “Trust Cards”.  This has proven to give students the ability to take pride in their education and in their school.  Since Deanna has been principal, Wright has become an OMA Gold school.  She is a professional musician and an accomplished pianist and supports the OMA program throughout her career and beyond.
