Substitute Teacher Information - Requirements

Substitute Daily Base Rate

Note: All long term positions MUST be pre-approved by Sub Office before assignment starts.

Daily Rate for the 1st-15th day:

  • Full Day - $100.00/day
  • Half Day - $50.00/day
  • Full Day at an L-25 School - $135.00/day
  • Half Day at an L-25 School - 67.50/day

Daily Rate after the 15th Day in the same assignment:

  • Full Day - $125.00/day
  • Half Day - $62.50/day
  • Full Day at an L-25 School - $145.00/day
  • Half Day at an L-25 School -$72.50

Daily Rate for Ex Ed Certified Teacher Subbing in Ex Ed Classroom:

  • Full Day - $165.00/day
  • Half Day - $82.50/day

Prop 206 Sick Time

Substitutes can request a sick day by emailing the Sub Office at Please write "Sick Day Request" in the subject line of the email. All requests should be submitted within the same pay period of the requested sick day and must be submitted in increments of either half (4 hours) or full (8 hours) days to match how substitutes are paid.

The Substitute Office will verify you did not work that day and forward the request to the Payroll department for further processing.

If a sick leave request is submitted and there is not enough leave in the bank to cover the request, the employee will only be paid the amount that is in their sick leave bank. We encourage everyone to check their sick leave balance by logging into the employee self-service portal.
