The salary schedule for the 2018-2019 school year and the starting salary is $39,200 ($34,800-base and $4,400-supplemental amount for classroom site funding, contingent upon funding from the State of Arizona).
Newly employed MBUs shall be placed on the appropriate salary schedule at a step that reflects their previous experience. Acceptable experience is limited to that gained within the last fifteen (15) years. Experience prior to earning a Bachelor's Degree and certification shall not be credited to an employee for salary purposes.
Newly employed MBUs shall be given credit for teaching experience in the Peace Corps, overseas, in private and public schools, and in accredited junior colleges or universities.
Tucson Unified reserves the right to evaluate previous teaching and work experience.

Years of Experience
* Salary is based on a 207-day contract which includes 20 paid holidays, 7.5 hour work schedule with a duty-free lunch and separate planning period. For more information about employment terms, see Consensus Agreement (in PDF).
* New teachers attend New Teacher Induction training as part of the first regular contract.
* Minimum pay includes $4,400 of Prop 301 funding. Separate 301 Pay for Performance is also available up to $3000 annually with achievement of approved Plan goals.
* Pay may be increased annually by $500 with Governing Board Approval

**The Math, Science, Special Ed, and Magnet stipends are one-time hiring incentives, paid to teachers in those subject areas or at magnet schools who are new to the district. These stipends are paid in two parts: The first half is paid upon completion of the fall semester in December and the second half is paid out upon completion of the spring semester in May.
The Dual Language stipend is a recruitment and retention stipend. The amount is determined by the number of Dual Language classes a teacher is teaching, with the maximum amount being $5,000. This stipend is paid out on the same schedule (end of fall semester, and end of spring semester) as the other stipends.
