Classes at Family Resource Centers

  • Stepping Stones: Presented by The U of A Cooperative Extension

    Child behavior management for families with children with Autism. The series provides community as well as a specialized set of skills for parents to properly identify behavior problems and challenge their children to reach milestones using the Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) curriculum.

  • Nutrition Class: Presented by The U of A Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program

    Instructor Ivonne Martinez will review exercise, food safety, sugar, saltfats, and introduce the USDA MyPlate Nutrition Guide. Participants will learn to take care of themselves and their families by using new nutrition techniques and learning new ways of eating.

  • Writing Celebration: Presented by Author and Teacher Kit McIlroy

    This class is for participants who attended the Writing, A Life Skill class. Attendees will have the opportunity to read aloud. They will also be able to celebrate writing and reading with their children.

  • Title I: Presented by Teresa Guerrero –Tucson Unified School District

    Title One presents: TUSD district policy, school policy, and compacts. You are cordially invited to share your ideas on how together we can strengthen the District Title I Parental Involvement Policy for the benefit of all students.

  • Crianza de los Hijos y Adicción (Parenting and Addiction): Presentado por LA FRONTERA

    This class will be presented in Spanish. Esta será una presentación de 4 sesiones sobre la crianza de los hijos y la adicción con un enfoque en los siguientes temas: hechos del alcohol, prevencion mas bienestarcomo funciona nuestro cerebro y como empieza la adiccion, y crianza positiva.

  • Active Parenting
    This free six-week program will focus on giving parents/guardians the tools they need to better communicate with their children. We will dive into brain development and how it affects children’s behavior. You will also learn how to talk to your children about making good decisions. Fridays12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.| Start: 1/15/21| End: 2/19/21| 

  • English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELAA): Presented by Literacy Connects

    This class is offered to any adult with a desire to learn and improve their English. Students may choose from beginning, high beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes. Sign up by January 11.

  • GED Preparation Class: Presented by Literacy Connects

    Prepare for your GED by improving your reading, writing, math, and thinking skills. These classes will be taught in English. Ages 21 and over.

Talk It Out

Talk It Out New counseling services a joint U of A and TUSD program

*TUSD students, parents, guardians, and immediate family members, Talk It Out is currently booked through December 2020.  When you submit a request, you will be placed on a waitlist for counseling services.  Talk It Out staff will contact you when they begin scheduling appointments for January 2021.
