Classes at Family Resource Centers

  • Nutrition Workshop: Presented by The U of A Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program

    This class focuses on the USDA MyPlate nutrition guide. Participants will learn the importance of food safety, reading & comparing food labels, menu planning, and food budgeting.

  • Active Parenting: Presented by Child & Family Resources

    This program will focus on giving parents/guardians the tools they need to better communicate with their children. We will dive into brain development and how it affects children’s behavior. You will also learn how to talk to your children about making good decisions. Please click on link to register.

  • Padres Activos: Presentado por Child & Family Resources

    Este programa se enfocará en brindar a los padres las herramientas que necesitan para comunicarse mejor con sus hijos. Nos sumergiremos en el desarrollo del cerebro y cómo afecta el comportamiento de los niños.

  • Cooking Healthy: Presented by The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona

    Parent volunteers will demonstrate how to cook nutritious meals using ingredients from the Family Resource Center’s food pantry. Participants will also learn how to make easy low-cost meals. Please click on the link to register.

  • Brain Waves: Presented by The U of A Cooperative Extension

    This 4-class series shares the wonders of how children’s brains grow and learn. Parents will gain knowledge in brain development, emotions, and temperament; and strategies to strengthen young children.

  • Stepping Stones: Presented by The U of A Cooperative Extension

    Child behavior management for families with children with Autism. The series provides community as well as a specialized set of skills for parents to properly identify behavior problems and challenge their children to reach milestones using the Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) curriculum.

  • Positive Discipline: Presented by The U of A Cooperative Extension

    This program focuses on using kindness, firmness, dignity, and respect. After this workshop you will be empowered with skills to reduce problematic behaviors while strengthening your child's life skills.

  • Mobile Bike Repair: Hosted by Living Street Alliance

    Free basic bike repairs! We bring the tools and basic replacement parts, and you bring the bike. Receive a free youth helmet while supplies last. Repairs will take place at Southwest Family Resource Center. Appointments are required. 1 bike per appt. Only 2 people allowed per visit.
